David.

Born and raised in Miami, to Nicaraguan and Cuban parents, dancing was a huge part of my childhood. My family would gather almost every other weekend and throw parties. I had a cousin who was a DJ and my other cousins grew up break dancing. I was drawn to latino styles of music and movement like bachata, salsa and latino pop. I started dance classes in high school at Miami Killian Senior High, and after falling in love with it, began my formal training at New Image Dance Center (now called Miami Dance Project) under the direction of Barbara Delgado. My intense study of Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Hip Hop dance earned me admission to Coral Reef Senior High for my senior year and then The New World School of the Arts College, an extension of the University of Florida.

Before I started college I had the honor of meeting one of my favorite humans who also happens to be one of my favorite artistic inspirations, Terese "Toogie" Barcelo. As a friend, she taught me not only the potentional of dance especially in the dance theatre realm but also new ways of thinking and being. While I focused most of my studies on Ballet and Modern, I began my professional career in commercial dance around the same time Emmy-nominated choreographer Glenn Douglas Packard took me under his wing as his assistant choreographer after auditioning for him my first time.  I've performed in television, music videos, a world tour and have also choreographed a few mainstream movement projects.

It wasn't until I moved to Los Angeles that a different fire sparked. Aside from living as a starving artist and having an unconventional body type for the industry at that time, I learned to be an artist in other ways. I created a character named TOFFEeNUT and performed at various cabarets where I found a passion for character work that I now utilize in many of my movement projects. In addition to my successful commercial dance career and, especially since moving to Las Vegas, I focus on bringing awareness to the healing power of dance, specifically through teaching mindfully and creating safe spaces for authentic expression.  Aside from pursuing dance through a variety of avenues, I enjoy teaching many styles of movement to many genres of music like Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Reggaeton, as well as explorative classes to get anyone from beginner dancers to advanced professionals more comfortable in their bodies.

Currently, I am represented by Go 2 Talent Agency based in Los Angeles. I work as a dance educator at Millennium Dance Complex Las Vegas while freelancing/traveling around the world for teaching and choreographic opportunities. I'm a movement artist and board member for Dani Maloney Dance Collective. I'm also a dancer at Park MGM's On The Record. I aim to continue to evolve as an artist, exploring old and new qualities of movement to express stories and who maintains integrity and mindfulness, one who that considers all artists and collaborators I have the pleasure of working with.
